Common Bank Test - Details of IBPS notification

The notification common test for recruitment into public sector banks has finally arrived. The national level exams will be conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The candidates who qualify the exam will be awarded with scores according to his/her performance in the exam for which scores would be awarded.
I think that everyone may be heard of the Common Bank Test, that is to be implemented from the month of June 2011. Earlier one has to apply for every bank by paying application fees for every bank. The exams are conducted by IBPS and the remaining recruitment process is conducted by CENTRAL RECRUITMENT & PROMOTION DEPARTMENT CRPD. Most of the banks call the short listed candidates only once. Some candidates may be shortlisted in clerical and PO in the same bank or other banks. Such candidates join in one bank for higher post and abandon the other. This results in the backlog vacancies that has to be filled in the next recruitment. This system keeps the financially backward people from applying for the bank exam.
In the new system, IBPS will conduct Common Bank Test nation wide. The candidates who took the exam will be given a score card according to his performance in the Common Bank Test. The validity of the score card is one year. The banks which have vacancies will notify eligibility criteria (age, qualification, test score etc) and candidates who satisfy the eligibility criteria can apply for that bank. The exam will be conducted two times a year.
SBI and associate banks would not participate in this system of recruitment. They will conduct their own exam. There are 19 public sector banks that will recruit from this common bank test. They are -
Allahabad Bank,Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO Bank & Vijaya Bank.
As IBPS is responsible for conducting exams - it will notify each time, about i) Eligibility conditions ii) Application fees iii) Exam date & pattern iv) Call letters. Hereafter, scorecard issued after writing the common test is necessary to apply for any public sector bank jobs.
